Sara Tanaka

Sara Tanaka is the Director of Corporate Strategy at the Hawai’i Medical Service Association (HMSA) where her work focuses primarily on developing enterprise-wide strategies to improve the health and wellbeing of the community.During her 11 years at HMSA, she has worked in various roles overseeing quality programs and designing hospital payment models to drive more patient-centered, sustainable care. Prior to joining HMSA, she worked at the Kaiser Permanente Center for Health Research.Sara was born and raised in Hawaii and holds a Master’s in Public Health from the University of Hawaii and Bachelor’s degrees in Public Health and Child Development from Tufts University.With a commitment to the community, Sara sits on the board of directors of the Boys & Girls Club of Maui and is the president of the Pukalani Elementary School Parent Teacher Association. In her spare time, Sara enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband and two children.
