John P. Kolman

John P. Kolman, D.B.A., is an experienced executive director with a robust background in leadership, process improvement, strategic planning, and public-private partnerships. He serves as the District Health Officer for the Hawaii State Department of Health, overseeing public health services for the County of Hawaii, including Environmental Protection and Disease Outbreak Control.

John’s extensive public health and environmental protection career is marked by his success in managing multi-million-dollar budgets and leading large teams toward achieving significant outcomes. His previous roles include serving as the District Environmental Health Program Chief for the Kauai District Health Office and as the Director of Environmental Protection & Environmental Health for Maricopa County, Arizona.

John holds a Doctor of Business Administration from Walden University, an MBA from the University of Phoenix, and a Bachelor of Science in Reclamation from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. His extensive expertise continues to drive impactful public health initiatives.

John resides in Hilo and enjoys exploring the many different parts of the Big Island.
