Lisa Kaʻanoʻi
Workforce Lead Coordinator
Lisa Ka’ano’i is Native Hawaiian, Alaska Native and Okinawan. The Alaska Native tribe she
comes from is Sivuqaq Yupik, which are the indigenous people on St. Lawrence Island located in
the Bering Sea. This is Lisa’s second time working at Papa Ola Lōkahi, she originally was the
Institutional Review Board Administrator which is no longer active, and now she’s the Program
Coordinator for Mauli Ola Mālamalama, the workforce development department at Papa Ola
Lōkahi. Lisa received her Master of Public Health from the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa and
brings clinic management experience from Alaska and Oregon, including the Alaska Native
Medical Center, Southcentral Foundation, Oregon Providence Health System, among others.
Lisa is the President of the Oʻahu Intertribal Council and Co-Chair of the Membership
Committee for APHAʻs American Indian Alaska Native Native Hawaiian Caucus. She is a 2021
recipient of the Elizabeth A. Sackler Institute Scholarship, attending the Johns Hopkins
Center for American Indian Health Sumer Institute, and is currently on the lookout for a PhD
program, possibly in Indigenous Studies. She misses the Northern Lights, but doesn’t miss the
subzero temperatures and having to plug in her car to prevent it from freezing, she can tell you
all about it on the beautiful beaches of Oʻahu.
